Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Friendship Baptist Church, 1237 House Street, Columbia, SC 29204. Interment will follow in The Piedmont Cemetery, Bishopville, SC. He departed this earthly life on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at Lexington Medical Center. He attended the public schools in Bishopville and later moved to Brooklyn, NY, where he attended Thomas Jefferson High School. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country from 1969-1971. After returning from the service, he worked at Fort Hamilton Army Base and Paramount Wire in Brooklyn, NY. He then returned to Bishopville, SC and worked for Bose, Goodwill and Fort Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow, Sr. and Carrie Lee Dixon, three sisters, Betty Jean Dixon, Carmelia Dixon and Marilyn Lawson, a stepdaughter, Shaffon Thomas and stepson, Shareiff Thomas, two nephews, Derrick an Henry Lawson, and two brothers-in-law, Alfred Smith and Clifford Williams, and a sister-in-law, Charise Rogers. Woody leaves to mourn his death: his beloved wife, Rochelle Dixon; four daughters, Faizah Boyd Klass (Jamal), Lukisha, Teiahsha, and Telia Dixon; two sons, Davone Woody Dixon, and Sherod Brown Dixon; nineteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren; four sisters, Jannie Dixon, Sherell Williams, Chrisandra (Sherlock) Peele, and Cynthia Dixon-Austin; two brothers, Johnnie (Paulette) Lee and Harold Dixon; his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Thomas; three sisters-in-law, Robin Thomas Gaines, Cheryl Thomas, and Hattie Thomas; one brother-in-law, Henry Lawson; five uncles, Richard (Stephanie) Dixon, Dennis (Betsy Mae) Givens, William Thomas, Elmo (Celeaster) Thomas and Emmanuel Esaw; four aunts, Katie Lee Furman, Bettye-Ann Lynn, and Dorothy Dixon; and a special friend, Denise Ford; and a host of nieces, cousins, and friends.
