Funeral Service will be 12 Noon, Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at Friendship Baptist Church, 1237 House Street, Columbia, South Carolina 29204. Pastor A. A. Dicks, Sr., officiating. Interment to follow in the Greenlawn Memorial Park. Public Viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Monday, June 6, 2022 at A. A. Dicks Funeral Home Sullivan Chapel. William James Sanders, affectionately known to his family and friends as Jimmy, Little James, Rev., Dad and Grandpa, was born in Sampit, South Carolina on March 1, 1945. He was the beloved son of Sue Elizabeth Snaders and William Bonds, and the precious grandson of Teressa Sanders, and great - grandson of Ezekial Sanders and Rock Sanders of Sampit, South Carolina. Little James was an only child, but he grew up very close to Joshua Stafford and Andrew-Lee Davis as brothers. The absence of Little James' father was lovingly filled by his dear great-grandfather, Ezekiel Sanders. After moving to Newark, New Jersey, Jimmy met and married the love of his life, Christine DeVaugh Sanders. On March 8th they just celebrated 45 years of marriage. They were blessed with 5 children (4 daughters and 1 son), Candacy (Candy), Larinda (Rinda), Omar William James, Darcell (Dawn), and Britney (Brit). They are the proud grandparents of Candell Dawn Sims, Samone Yolanda Sims, Jayden Edward Sims, Gabriella Pereira Sanders, Abigail Valentina Sanders, Cameron Edward-James Sims, Christopher Wayne Gilbert Jr., and Clare Livia Sanders. Jimmy was a wonderful provider to his children, and an extremely loving, caring, and protective father and grandfather. Little James attended the public schools of Sampit, South Carolina before moving to North Carolina with his mother, where he attended Public High School. After moving to New Jersey, Rev. Sanders accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and devoted his life to the Lord. He earned his degree of Divinity, and served as Pastor at Gethsemane Primitive Baptist Church of Newark, New Jersey, White Rock Baptist Church of Hillside, New Jersey, and Holy Trinity Baptist Church of Camden, New Jersey. After returning to South Carolina, Rev. Sanders served as pastor at Baughmanville Baptist Church of Wagner, South Carolina, and Zion Damascus Baptist Church of Hopkins, South Carolina. As a business owner, Jimmy owned and operated a small fleet of 18 wheelers. Transportation was a passion of his and he tried to teach his son Omar, and his son-in-law, Wendell, all that he knew in trucking. He leaves behind his wife, Christine; 3 children, Larinda, Omar, and Britney; 2 sons-in-law, Wendell and Christopher; 1 daughter-in-law, Solange; 3 grandsons named above; 5 granddaughters named above; 1 aunt, Daisy Sanders Alleyne; a host of first cousins, great-cousins, and dear friends. Rev. Sanders' spiritual brother, Pastor A. A. Dicks, Sr., Rev. Andrew Fruster, and Rev. Irwin Wilson. Please leave the Sanders family your condolences and prayers.
