Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at A. A. Dicks Funeral Home -Sullivan Chapel, 2548 Main Street, Columbia, SC 29201. Rocker, was born January 22, 1948 in Columbia, South Carolina to the late Leroy and Eva Mae Cook Richardson. She transitioned from her earthly life on Friday, January 22, 2021. Viola was a graduate of Eau Claire High School. She attended Daniel Circle Chapel and frequented bible study sessions at Friendship Baptist Church and she loved to visit several local churches just to worship. She dedicated herself to working at Providence Hospital, Sam’s Club, and at the time of her death she worked for the United States Postal Service as a mail handler and clerk. To know Viola was to know God’s love, and her love for others. She loved praise and worship, singing, joking, and most of all, she was an advocate for voting and voters’ rights. She was known for her cleaver way of expressing her First Amendment Rights publicly at the SC State House. Viola never met a stranger, and would not hesitate to talk about Jesus. She was an inspiration to everyone she met, and she touched their lives. Ms. Viola Rocker was predeceased in life by her parents and three brothers, James C. Richardson, George Leroy Richardson, and Johnie Richardson. She leaves to mourn and cherish her memories: three loving daughters, Annette (Warren) Halter, West Columbia, SC, Tami (Charles) Morgan, Columbia, SC, and Jamie (Maurice) Gore, Elgin, SC; twelve grandchildren, Brandon (Lacretia) Rocker , Brenton (Nikita) Rocker, Blessed Halter, Jade Sherman, Malachi Morgan, Bethany Halter, Lawrence Sherman, Jr., Ma’Layiah Morgan, Leila Sherman, Benjamin Halter, Micah Morgan, and Lawson Sherman; five great grandchildren, Brandon Jr., Adrean, Breyanna, Jaiden, and Romelo; two brothers, Robert Richardson, Akron, OH and Willie Richardson, Columbia, SC; an aunt, Ineeda “Squeaky” Pickett; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, loving relatives, church families and dear friends.
