Mr. Ruben Bernard Clarkson

Mr. Ruben Clarkson, 67, of Columbia, South Carolina entered into eternal rest on October 24, 2024 at MUSC Healt Columbia Medical Center. Born on June 22, 1957, in Columbia, South Carolina, was the beloved son of the late Ruthine Clarkson Ladson and the late Albert Ladson. "Bernard", as he was affectionately called by family and friends, Ruben was educated in Richland School District One Schools and graduated from A. C. Flora High School as a member of the Class of 1976. He worked at Fluor Daniel Construction and the V. C. Summer Nuclear Station in Jenkinsville, SC, where he was recognized for his exceptional carpentry skills. He was also an entrepreneur, running a business called Ruben's Rottweilers, which showcased his passion for dogs and the breed. Ruben had a deep passion for fishing and was an avid bodybuilder in his younger days, but his heart truly belonged to the USC Gamecocks. He was a devoted fan who proudly wore the garnet and black colors, eagerly attending and watching every sporting event. His enthusiasm for the Gamecocks was infectious and enriched his life, creating countless cherished memories with friends and family. Known for his candid nature and ability to speak his mind, Ruben impacted all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Sam Ladson. Ruben is survived by his five children, A'ketia Hickmon, Angela Fletcher, Sherrod Craft, Justin Hickmon, and Taylor Alexis Clarkson. He also leaves behind his loving sister, Ruthine Ladson, and devoted brothers, Albert Ladson, Jr. and Thomas Ladson; five grandchildren, Zayden Hickmon, Alonna Hickmon, Giovanni Craft, Maddux Craft, and Zivan Craft; special friend, Essie "Tina" Flores and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 2, 2024 at A. A. Dicks Funeral Home, 6400 North Main Street, Columbia, South Carolina 29203. Reverend Veronica Bailey, officiating. Interment to follow in the Promised Land Cemetery. Public viewing will be held from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m., Friday, November 1, 2024 and from 9:00 a.m. until time of service, Saturday, November 2, 2024 at A. A. Dicks Funeral Home.
