Mr. Jamal Marquis Gibson

Funeral service will be 12 noon, Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Bible Way Church of Atlas Road, 2440 Atlas Road, Columbia, South Carolina 29209. Interment to follow in the Promised Land Cemetery. Mr. Gibson will lie in-state one hour prior to the service time. Public viewing will be held from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at A. A. Dicks Funeral Home. Jamal Marquis Gibson was born to Cynthia Brown Haynes on December 15, 1993, in Orangeburg, SC. He attended the public school system of Orangeburg and Richland counties. He graduated from Westwood High School. While in high school, Jamal took pride in being a member of the wrestling team and perfecting his skills for competitions. Jamal attended Allen University, where he studied Business Administration. During this time, Jamal became a brother of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., in the Fall of 2016, and became the guy we all knew as, “Mr. Blu”. Jamal’s hobbies were riding his motorcycle, traveling, and strolling with the member of the Aϴ Chapter. He enjoyed wrestling and assisting the community. His passion for assisting others in the community molded him to become the owner and operator of Bar Boys Movers and Services, which launched in 2021. Jamal was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Georgie (Lillie) Gibson; paternal aunts, Effie L. Davis, Virginia Lewis, and Lenora Coulter; and his paternal unles, George Gibson, Jr. and James Rogers Gibson. Jamal Marquis Gibson was unexpectedly called home to be with the Lord on the morning of February 22, 2024. Jamal leaves behind to celebrate his life and legacy: his mother, Cynthia (Darrell) Brown Haynes, Columbia, SC; grandparents, Margie Mintz and Willie Brown, both of Orangeburg, SC; three brothers, Darrell Haynes, Jr. and Dion Haynes, both of Columbia, SC, and Eddie (Sherill) Gibson, Jr., of Rock Hill, SC; two sisters, Harriet Martin and Olivia Gibson, both of North, SC; seven aunts, Angela (Terrence) Bell, Greenville, SC, Makeasha Brown, Columbia, SC, Ruby Gibson and Rebecca Grable, Bridgeport, CT, Emma Perry, North, SC, Maggie Funches, Orangeburg, SC, and Lillie Harris, of San Antonio, TX; special cousins, Raven Bell, Brianna Bell, Anissia Rush, Jasmine Lee, Keosha Thomas, Kendall and Kenneth Thomas, Jr.; five nephews, eight nieces, six great nephews, and eight great nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends.
