Mrs. Hazel Scott Rose

Hazel Scott Rose was born on August 4, 1949 in Richland County. She was the second of nine children born to the lat Howard and Rosa Macon Scott. Hazel entered into eternal rest on March 21, 2024 after a brief hospital stay. Hazel attended the public schools of Richland County, South Carolina. Hazel graduated from C. A. Johnson High School, Class of 1967. Hazel was a member of the Social Dance Club. This club is a reflection of her attributes of poise and social graces. Hazel was also an essential member of The Rainbow Club which served as a virtual part of the communtiy and sponsored community fundraisers. Hazel attended Allen University where she earned her associates degree in Business Administration. As a young adult Hazel worked several years in Retail and later sought a career in healthcare where her 1st career move was Secretary for Richland Memorial Hospital in the Neurology Department. She later secured a position at Richland Memorial's Ambulatory Care Clinic. She retired in 2014 as the Business Administrator for Columbia's Comprehensive Behavioral Care. It was in the early years of her career that she was found by the love of her life, Henry Rose. They joined together in Holy matrimony on March 9, 1973. As a couple, they enjoyed bowling, softball and attended South Carolina State football games together. They attended Friendship BaptistChurch, where Hazel was a member of the Mass choir. She was also a voting member of The Scholarship Committee and Usher's Ministry. She loved her church (FBC) Family. Hazel was also an active member of The Order of Eastern Star where she achieved the highest ranking of The Rose of Seven Seals. Hazel was the epitome of a Matriarch. Loving and full of life. Always lending a helping hand while aiding in raising her younger siblings, nieces and nephews. Hazel was preceded in death by her mother and father and a brother, Thomas Wayne Scott. Hazel leaves her legacy of memories to: her husband of fifty-one years, Henry Rose; siblings, Howard Scott, Jr., Jacqueline Scott, Palmer Scott, Reginald Scott, Wendy (Stanley) Lewis, Irish Jackson and Rosahal Scott; three sisters-in-law, Jeannette (Baxter) Segars, Wendy (Albert) Jackson, Angie Rose; a brother-in-law, David Rose; an aunt, Geneva Weaver and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Friendship Baptist Church, 1237 House Street, Columbia, South Carolina 29204. Pastor A. A. Dicks, Sr., officiating. Interment to follow in the Promised Land Cemetery. Mrs. Rose will lie in-state at the church one hour prior to the service time. Public viewing will be from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 27, 2024 and from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 28, 2024 at A. A. Dicks Funeral Home. Like our Facebook page: A. A.
