Mrs. Dorothy Mae Dantzler

Mrs. Dorothy Mae Dantzler, 81, of Columbia, South Carolina has entered into eternal rest on August 5, 2025 at her home surrounded by family. Mrs. Dorothy Mae Sligh Dantzler was born to the late Willie Geiger and Doretha Clark Sligh on September 21, 1943. God picked one of the most beautiful flowers from His garden when Mrs. Dantzler passed away on August 5, 2025. Dorothy accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, was baptized, and received the gift of the Holy Ghost at an early age. As Romans 1:16 declares, she was never ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ, knowing it is the power of God for salvation to all who believe. Dorothy attended the public schools of Richland County, and was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. Dorothy had a great passion for sewing that blossomed early in life, becoming a lifelong skill that brought joy to many throughout her lifetime. Her sewing abilities allowed her to become the community seamstress, creating and tailoring countless garments for friends, neighbors, and local organizations. Through her generosity and craftsmanship, she wove threads of connection and kindness that strengthened the community for generations. With this skill, among several others, she became employed with Stone Manufacturing Company, Midlands Center, and Brian Center. Dorothy was full of life. She loved to travel, and spend time with family. Her nieces and nephews had her thoroughly spoiled. There was nothing she couldn’t have if she wanted it. She enjoyed watching television, especially with her “TV Buddy”, Charlie Glover. Her favorite show was “Walker, Texas Ranger”. She also enjoyed reading the Word of God with her “special son”, James Blanding, Jr. Dorothy was married to the late Allen Dantzler. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son: Rev. Dr. Timothy Sligh Sr.; grandson: Timothy Sligh Jr.; sisters: Geraldine Jennings and Beatrice Edwards; brothers: Richard Sligh and Robert Sligh. Her legacy lives on through her daughter, Deborah (Fredrick, Jr.) Kennedy; son: Isaac Goodman; grandchildren: Shamicka Blanding, Toneka Mack, Tiffany Sligh, Fredrick (Takquana) Kennedy III, Joshua Goodman, Emani Goodman, a host of other grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Sharline Hart and Annette (James, Sr.) Jackson; a host of nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends all of whom will miss her dearly Funeral service will be 12 noon, Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Friendship Baptist Church, 1237 House Street, Columbia, South Carolina 29203. Reverend A. A. Dicks, Sr., Pastor. Interment to follow in the Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Dantzler will lie in-state at the church one hour prior to the service time.
