Ms. Doris P. Pope

Funeral services for Ms. Doris Padgett Pope of Aiken, SC will be held on Saturday October 11, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. from Zion Fair Baptist Church, 97 Dry Branch Road, Aiken, SC 29803. Interment to follow at Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Doris entered into rest on October 7, 2014 at Georgia Regional University Hospital. Viewing will be held on Friday October 10, 2014 from 12 noon to 8:00 p.m. at Jackson-Brooks Funeral Home, 126 Fairfield St SE, Aiken, SC 29801. A. A. Dicks Funeral Home Sullivan Chapel, 2548 Main Street, Columbia is in charge of these arrangements. Doris was born to Penny Ophelia Dicks and the late Charlie Smith on January 23, 1944 in Aiken, SC. She attended Pleasant Hill School and concluded her education at Schofield High School in 1963. She was baptized at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. She spent many years as a Weaver at Bath Mill but, retired from Owens Corning Fiberglass after fifteen years of committed service. On January 11, 1964 she was united in Holy Matrimony to Moses Padgett Sr. To this union, three sons; Moses, Jr., Marvin and the late the late Deon Padgett were born. She was preceded in death by her father; son, two brothers, Charlie, Jr. and David Smith and two sisters, Ruth Holland and Lillie Mae Matthews. She leaves to cherish precious memories two sons; Moses (Shelly) Padgett, Jr. of Aiken, SC and Marvin (Juanita) Padgett of Woodbridge, VA; four granddaughters, Paris Padgett of Richmond, VA, Jamillah Padgett of Allentown, PA, Khadijah Shaw of Augusta, GA and Porcia Padgett of Greenville, SC; grandson, Marvin Padgett of Aiken, SC; five great-grandsons, Somir Porter of Richmond, VA, Vernandre Whitfield of Augusta, GA, Malachi Padgett of Aiken, SC, Marvin Padgett, Jr. of Oklahoma and Zyaire Padgett of Greenville, SC; two granddaughters, Somoria Padgett of Richmond, VA and Aliea Padgett of Oklahoma; mother, Penny Ophelia Smith of Aiken, SC; two brothers, Kenneth (Dorothy) Smith of Albuquerque, NM and Mcronel (Barbara) Smith of Aiken, SC; three sisters, Mary Annette Vaughn, Shirley Brown and Christmas (Jimmy) Starlings all of Aiken, SC and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
