Ms. Debra Elaine Jones

Beloved Debra Elaine Jones, was born June 27, 1965 in Columbia, South Carolina. She was the middle child to the late Wilbert Jones Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Gardner Jones. She departed this life on May 30, 2023. Ms. Elaine was educated in the public schools of Columbia, South Carolina. She attended W. A. Perry Middle School and later studied for her GED. She worked at The University of South Carolina for over ten years through Sodexo. She also worked for Johnson and Johnson Food Service on Fort Jackson until she fell ill. When Elaine wasn’t working you could find her at home in the kitchen cooking for her grands and family. She took pleasure in cooking and was one of the greatest cooks of the family. You could count on her to have a gathering for every holiday. Elaine had the purest heart, vibrating smile and her presence would light any room she entered. Ms. Elaine was preceded in death by: her parents, Wilbert Jones Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Gardner Jones; a brother, Kenneth Jones and a son, Ervin Andre Jones. Debra E. Jones leaves to mourn her passing: her two daughters, Keisha Jones and Denise Jones; a son, Dion Jones all of Columbia, South Carolina; one sister, Jacqueline (Joey) Johnson; two brothers, Wilbert Jones of Columbia, South Carolina, Joe J. Jones of Jacksonville, Florida; five grandchildren, Nautica Clark, Deontra Jones, Zaria Jackson, Zaniah Martin and Nicholas Martin; one great-grand, Prince Johnson and many other loving relatives and caring friends, all of whom will miss her dearly. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 5, 2023 at Friendship Baptist Church, 1237 House Street, Columbia, South Carolina 29204. Pastor A. A. Dicks, Sr., officiating. Interment to follow in Palmetto Cemetery. Ms. Jones will lie in-state at the church one hour prior to the service. Public viewing will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, June 4, 2023 and from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 5, 2023 at the Funeral Home.
