Mrs. Deanna Lichele Mapp

Mrs. Deanna Lichele Mapp, 53, of Gaston, South Carolina, lovingly known as The Purple Lady, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025, after a courageous battle with leukemia, which she faced with grace and strength since 2021. Born in Toledo, Ohio and raised in San Jose, California, Deanna was a bright light from the start. She ran track in high school with passion and speed and later earned her Associate's Degree from Phillips Junior College in San Jose. Deanna was a true Master of hospitality—professionally and personally. She never met a stranger, greeting everyone with a warm heart and radiant smile. Whether she was welcoming you into Murray’s, her home, or sharing a conversation in passing, she had a gift for making others feel seen and loved. Deanna’s warmth radiated wherever she went—she carried herself with grace, offered kindness without hesitation, and created space for everyone to feel like family. On February 2, 2017, she married her soulmate, Lonnie Mapp. Their union blended two families into one beautiful circle of love. Deanna was the proud mother of four children: Kenan Dishon, Undray LaRyan, Keyana Lichele, and the late Marrisa Cheri and a devoted stepmother to Meco, Lonnie Jr. (LJ), Alonte, Anesa, Qwan, Isaiah, and Micah. Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren: Kaelyn and Karter (Keyana), Audriel and Jamela (Undray), London (Kenan), Anaijah, Aponte, and Remedy (Anesa), and eleven more grandchildren whom she cherished as her own. She is survived by her loving mother, Stephanie, and her sisters, Theresa, Sha’Ron, and Tandrea and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Dean and her precious daughter Marrissa. Deanna’s presence was unforgettable. She had a magnetic spirit, a generous heart, and a deep love for all things purple—which became a part of her identity and joyfully earned her nickname “The Purple Lady”. She brought light, laughter, and love into every room she entered and made sure no one ever felt alone. Her strength, joy, and unwavering faith leave behind a legacy that will continue to blossom in the lives of all who knew and loved her. Though she has transitioned from this world, her essence lives on in every smile, every purple bloom, butterfly, and every act of kindness inspired by her memory. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at True Pentecostal Church, 2215 Taylor Road, Cayce, South Carolina 29033. Elder Albert Eichelberger, Pastor. Mrs. Mapp will lie in-state at the church one hour prior to the service time. Public viewing will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 1, 2025 and from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at A. A. Dicks Funeral Home. Like our Facebook page: A.
