Mr. Cornelius "Red" Keitt

Cornelius “Red” Keitt was born the oldest of six children on March 29,1940 in Orangeburg County, South Carolina to the late James Keitt, Sr. and Adell Williams Keitt. He entered eternal rest on November 28, 2023 at the home of his sister and brother in law, surrounded by his loved ones listening to his favorite genre of music, Blues. As we are all saddened by this loss. Cornelius attended public schools in South Carolina. Cornelius moved to Connecticut with his family at an early age. After moving to Connecticut, he met and married the late Trudell Davis Keitt. Cornelius work various jobs. He work at Stop and Shop in Norwalk, Connecticut for many years until he retired. He loved his family and friends, he would do anything to help them. He would go above and beyond to help anyone. Cornelius loved telling jokes and he would always make you laugh. He would love to say I am not hungry, he enjoyed eating, everything tasted good to him, traveling and being around people making them happy. He loved spending time with his family. He was the life of the party. He kept everyone laughing. Every gathering he was there. He loved his jaquar. Don’t think about slamming the doors. or eating in it that was a no no but he would eat in your car. Cornelius was a devoted husband, son, brother, uncle, cousin and a friend. He was preceded in death by: his wife, Trudell Davis Keitt, his parents, James Keitt Sr. and Adell Williams Keitt; four brothers, James Keitt, Jr., Thomas Keitt, Nathaniel Keitt and Bobby Smith. Cornelius is survived by his two sisters, Teressa Keitt Johnson and Jeanette (Bobby) Newton both of Columbia, SC; two aunts, Beatrice Wearing of Santee, SC, and Mary Johnson of Orangeburg, SC; a sister-in-law Madell Sutton of Columbia, SC; his extended family, Ruby Macon, Rita Macon, Darrell Macon, Shawn Macon, Ronte Macon and a hosts of nieces and nephews. Special thanks to his nieces Latoya Newton and Loretta Baca, who occasionally helped take care of him. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 8, 2023 at Granger Baptist Church, 280 Carriage Hill Road, Elloree, South Carolina 29047. The Reverend Dr. Edward Prince, Pastor, officiating, Minister Phyllis Kennedy, presiding. Mr. Keitt will lie in-state at the church one hour prior to the funeral time.
