Ms. Benzina B. Smith

Ms. Benzina Brabham Smith-Hills, 81, was born on January 18, 1943 to the late Alfair Myers and the late Henry Richardson, Sr., both of St. Matthews, South Carolina. She was married to and the widow of the late Robert Hills. She entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 14, 2024 at her residence. Benzina attended the schools of Lexington County and was a graduate of Lakeview High School, Class of 1959. She retired from the University of South Caroina, where she was employed in Custodial Service. She was a devoted member of New Beginnings Baptist Church, in Cayce, South Carolina, under the leadership of Pastor Alfreda Crum She faithfully served in the Hospitality Ministry. Benzina was a member of the Eastern Stars, New Hope Grand Lodge, of Columbia, South Carolina. In addition to her parents, Benzina was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hills; two brothers, Robert Lee and Timothy Richardson; one aunt, Shirley Bookhart. Those left to cherish her memories are four sons, Ricky (Cynthia) Myers, Tyrone (Princess) Brabham, Kenneth Hill, Sr. and Ronald (Monica) Smith, Sr.; daughter, Stephanie Smith Jackson, all of Columbia, SC; two brothers, Kevin Myers and Henry Richardson, Jr., both of Columbia, SC; six sisters, Barbara Hammock, Ruth Ann Myers, Alfreda Lomax, Rosalinda Adams, Cheryl Thomas, Karen Best, all of Columbia, SC; five aunts, Christine Ferguson, Martha Oree, Margaret Huff, Gloria Brabham, and Lenora Wise, all of Columbia, SC; fourteen grandchildren; Fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; special colleagues, Elease Jones and Ralphella Rhinehart and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 21, 2024 at Friendship Baptist Church, 1237 House Street, Columbia, South Carolina 29204. The Reverend A. A. Dicks, Sr., Pastor, Pastor Alfreda Crum, officiating. Interment to follow in the Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. Ms. Smith will lie in-state at the church one hour prior to the service time. Public viewing will be held from 2:00 p.m.until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, October 20, 2024 and from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 21, 2024 at A. A. Dicks Funeral Home.
