She departed this earthly life on Sunday, October 24, 2021 in her home in Columbia, SC. Deaconess Willie Mae Lovett was a native of Portsmouth, VA. She was united in marriage to Leroy Lovett, Sr. on March 10, 1941. From this union, Willie Mae and Leroy were blessed with six children. this loving union continued for fifty-nine years until the passing of Leroy, Sr. in November of 2000. she was a devoted wife, loving and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. she dedicated her life to nurturing and teaching her family members, as well as her First Baptist Church South Portsmouth church family, where she served in the choir and other ministries. Ms. Lovett was preceded in death by two daughters, Constance Delores Lovett and Gwendolyn Denise Lovett who transitioned within hours after her death. Left to cherish precious memories are her three sons, Leroy, (Mary Bowser) Lovett, Jr. of Virginia Beach, VA, Willard Nathaniel (Mary Bradshaw) Lovett of Columbia, SC and Ronald Steven (Gloria Williams) Lovett of Woodbridge, VA; her daughter, Louise Ketreal Lovett (Henry) Alexander of San Jose, CA; twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, a host of nieces and nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
