Funeral Services for Ms. Vera Lewis Howard will be held Saturday, November 13,2021 at 1pm at Friendship Baptist Church 1237 House Street Columbia, SC. 29204 with Interment to follow in The Promised Land Cemetery. Minister Vera A. Lewis-Howard "Sweet Pea" was the beloved daughter of the late Steven and Arnetta Dunmore, born October 3rd, 1955. She transitioned into eternal rest in heaven on Sunday, November 8th, 2021 surrounded by her family. Vera completed all of her primary education in Richland County. She was baptized at an early age and once an adult, she realized her passion for teaching the word of God. She obtained her ordination license and began practicing her teachings at Zion Hopewell Church of Gilbert, South Carolina with her family. Vera went on to be a Traveling Minister, visiting various organizations throughout the state of South Carolina sharing, learning, and proclaiming the gospel to people of all backgrounds. She was extremely passionate about extending the love of God with others; being an integral asset to our community. A loyal servant to God, Vera spent many hours fulfilling her purpose in ministry. Although Vera is no longer with us physically, we should remind ourselves that this is the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for her. Vera was preceded in death by her Father, Albert "Alvin" Williams, one uncle, Henry Wells, one aunt, Mary McFadden, eldest son, Carl Lewis, one niece, Brenyette Page, one brother, Timothy Lewis, and one sister, Sandra Miller. Those left to cherish Vera's fond and precious memories are her husband Marion Howard, one and only loving daughter, Erica Jackson, two sons, Benjamin Jackson Jr. and Dwayne Jackson Sr. of Columbia, South Carolina; grandchildren, Isaac Fredrick, India Fredrick, Shalil Alford, JaQuar Drakeford, Nas'Zer Jackson, and Jah'Nasya Jackson of Columbia, Ki'vera and Shawna Branch, Benjamin Jackson III of Winnsboro, Carl Jackson of Spartanburg, SC; Dwayne Jackson and Ta'Kiyah Jackson of Columbus, OH; great-grandchildren, Jiliyah Alford, King Alford, and Kaitlyn Smith of Columbia, SC, Rilynn Jackson and JaBari Jackson of Spartanburg, SC, DaKarie Jackson, JaKovi Jackson, Daviona Jackson of Columbus, OH; sisters, Brenda Page, Terry Johnson, Norma Jean Hinnant, Denise Williams, Diane Williams, Vickie Howell, Orabel Howell, Betty Ann Howell, Dorthy Mack, Gladis Favor, Carol Edmond, Williamina Robertson, and Carol Glover of South Carolina, Arlene Williams of Manhattan, NY; brothers, Steven Dunmore Jr., Eugene Williams, Larry Williams, Eric Brown, Kenny Earl Brown, and Tarenzo Williams of Columbia, SC; Albert Williams of Myrtle Beach, SC; aunt, Dorthy Wright of Freehold, NJ; god-children, Tecarla Dunmore, Carl Dunmore, Kristen Page, Eldred Page Jr., Tiemain Smith, Shecora Anthony, Lexus Scott, Gary Bauknight, and Miesha Jackson of Columbia, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
