Varnetta "Bonnie" Hudson Samuel
April 24, 1946 - May 13, 2017
Mother Varnetta Hudson Samuel, affectionately known as “Bonnie”, was born on April 24, 1946 in Pontiac, SC. She was the eighth child of thirteen children born to Mason and Marandy Wilson Hudson. She was not the baby of the family but she was her mother’s baby. (LOL) Growing up in a family of strong Christian values, she accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and she praised His name until the very end. She was one of the church Mothers at the Apostolic Faith Church of Jesus Christ. Varnetta was educated in the public schools of Richland County. She was a chef/cook at the Spring Valley and Coldstream Country Clubs for many years until her health declined. Varnetta was united in Holy Matrimony to Harry Lee Samuel; a loving, devoted husband for over forty odd years before the Lord called him home. To this union, three children were reared. Varnetta was a very loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be missed by all who loved and knew her well. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, fishing, and most importantly going to church giving God all the praises and singing. She was well known for her infamous red velvet cake that is simply delicious. Mrs. Samuel was preceded in death by her husband, parents and nine siblings, Hampton, Melvin, Ronnie, Willie, Leroy and Clarence Hudson, Lina Bennett, Earline Jackson and Florence Black. Left to cherish precious memories are: her beloved children, Clarence Michael Samuel, Sabrina (Orlando) Samuel-Riley and Demika Samuel; four grandchildren, Varnetta Singletary, Harry Lee Samuel, II, Clarece Samuel and Tracey (Jamar) Fleming; four great grandchildren, Jayla, Triston, Camryn and Kennedy; three sisters, Isabel Lawhorn, Lovinia McKeever and Cynthia Cornish (Willie Daniel); three brothers-in-law, Gary, John and James (Joyce) Dixon; three sisters-in-law, Nancy Tucker, Grace (J.B.) Outen and Janette Dixon; five close friends, Carrie McCants, Dot Jones, Jean Chandler, Dot Robinson and Rosa Cornelius; a close cousin that is like a sister, Lois Denson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
