Mr. Rodney Quentin McQueen Jr.

September 6, 2001 - January 7, 2020

Services will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Ephesus Seventh-Day Adventist Church, located 7709 Wilson Blvd, Columbia, SC 29203. Mr. Rodney Quentin McQueen, Jr., 18, affectionately known as "RJai" was born on September 06, 2001, in Jacksonville, Florida to his parents Rodney Quentin McQueen, Sr. and Mariquita Shaiynae McKnight. Mr. McQueen departed this life Tuesday January 07, 2020. Rjai received his education from Irmo High School in Irmo, SC and Robert G. Cole High School at Fort Sam in Houston, TX. Intellectually gifted and immensely curious, RJai was accepted into the Beta club, excelled in Math and Science and loved puzzles of all sorts. RJai was an avid lover of music and gaming. Music was life! He loved playing musical instruments including, but not limited to, piano, guitar and the bass. RJai enjoyed both video and RPG gaming and advanced to becoming a Dungeon Master in Dungeon and Dragons. As an athlete, RJai ran cross country track and field, played basketball and soccer, wrestled, danced and was an avid skater and YoYoer. He was also a lifelong lover of animals, especially reptiles, and had an iguana, a turtle, two dogs, a number of fish, and a hermit crab as pets. RJai is preceded in death by his maternal great-grandmother, Irene Cephas of Baltimore, MD and paternal great-Grandparents, Vergus and Emily Long of Georgia. Left to cherish his memories are: his parents; his brother, Zieon McKnight; two sisters, Madasan Word and Sanaia Jones; his maternal grandparents, Pierre and Tammy McKnight; paternal grandparents, Leon and Charlotte McQueen; seven aunts, Tiffany McQueen-Jawahir, Marla Ferrell, Leondra McQueen, Monique McKnight, Jermetryca McKnight, Chellbee McKnight and Sharelle Rivers; three uncles, Lorenzo McKnight, Jermiah White and Lonzell McKnight; a host of other relatives, cousins, church family and friends. Please leave the family your condolences and prayers. The McQueen family, acknowledges with grateful appreciation, all of your kind expressions of love and sympathy.
