Mr. Michael B. Sims Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Public Viewing for Mr. Michael Sims will be Friday, January 17, 2020 from Noon till 6:00 P.M. at A. A. Dicks Funeral Home Sullivan Chapel, located 2548 Main Street, Columbia, SC 29201. Services will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at A. A. Dicks Funeral Home Sullivan Chapel, located 2548 Main Street, Columbia, SC 29201. Michael B. Sims, affectionately known as “Butch” was born on December 8, 1951 to the late Mary Ann Sims and Willie Morton, Sr., in New York City, New York. He departed this earthly life on Sunday, January 12, 2020. He received his education at Fredrick Douglas Junior High School, in Harlem, NY. In the 1990’s, he moved to South Carolina. “Butch” loved listening to gospel music while reading his Bible. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his favorite pastime was cooking. Conversations with Michael would always be about his daughter, grandson, and his favorite dog, “Buttons”. He was loved by all those he came in contact with and he never met a stranger. There was one attribute most admired by Butch, and that was: “if he could help those in need, he would and not expect anything in return.” Left to cherish his loving memories are: his daughter, Nicole McCants of Columbia, SC. and a grandson, Jason McCants, of Columbia, SC; two brothers, Willie Morton, Jr., of New York, NY and Gene (Valencia) Morton, of Columbia, SC; four nephews, Eugene Sims, Jr., of New Jersey, Willie Morton, III, Jimmie Morton, and Antonio Ball, all of Columbia, SC; and a host of relatives and friends all of whom will miss him dearly.
