SFC Ret. Mark Allen Lane
October 28, 1954 - June 7, 2022
Mark Allen Lane was October 28, 1954 to the late Abin and Mary Francis Edwards Lane. He departed this life on June 7, 2022. Mark graduated from Lyons Independence High School in Lyons, Georgia in 1972. He later joined the U. S. Army in September 1973. Mark continued his education while serving his country, where he received several diplomas and certificates. He retired from the Army July 31, 1993 with honors. Prior to retirement, he met and fell in love with the love of his life, Patricia Key. They were later married and shared thirty-two wonderful years together. Mark was a loving father and grandfather. He was a faithful and dedicated member of Ashley Grove Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee. He was a firefighter for the Richmond County Fire Department and later became an A-1 mechanic and supervisor until his health declined in 2014. Mark was preceded in death by four siblings; James, Palmer Lee, Julian and Isabella, and one son, Jamar. He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Mrs. Patricia Key Lane; children, Jermaine of Augusta, Georgia, Bobby and Sharon of Aiken, South Carolina; grandchildren, Jalayah, Jamir, Jermaine, and Ja'King; siblings, Patricia Lane, David Lane, Marion (Jackie) Lane all of Vidalia, Georgia; mother-in-law, Mrs. Essie Bush "Nanny"; secial friends, Gene Dillard, Henry (Linda) Taylor, John (Yvonne) Puckett, Madeline Screven, and Erica Dazle and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives and dear friends. Graveside Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 17, 2022 at Ashley Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 323 Ashley Grove Road, Aiken, South Carolina 29801. Reverend Anthony Miller, Pastor, officiating. Interment with military honors to follow therein. Public Viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Williams Funeral Home, 2945 Old Tobacco Road, Hephzibah, Georgia 30815. To view the service for SFC Ret.
