Margaret Washington Hampton

February 14, 1933 - September 28, 2018

Margaret was born on Valentine’s Day 1933 (Our Sweetheart) in Cayce SC to the late Alexander and Amy Brown Washington. She attended Cayce Elementary School and Lakeview High School and later graduated from Richland Northeast High School. Margaret was the widow of the late Samuel T. Hampton. She retired from Pontiac Foods as a supervisor. She was an active member the South Carolina Washington Family Club and Greenview Senior Park Fitness Group and served as treasurer of both organizations. Her favorite past time was going to Greenview Park where she gave and received lots of love, hugs and kisses and earned the nickname “warden”. Margaret was a faithful and dedicated member of The Greenview Baptist Church for more than thirty years and served in its Missionary Society and Sunday School. Mrs. Hampton is survived by a son, Charles T. Odom; a daughter, Sylvia (Larry) Redmond, three sisters, Beatrice Johnson, Isola Calhoun and Mary Ann (Robert) Sumter; a brother, Marvin (Marie) Roach; a brother-in-law, Lawrence Hampton; five sisters-in-law, Imogene (Jalton) Adams, Lula Mae (Matthew) Goodley, Rosanna Salley, Bernetha Veal and Bessie (Cleveland) Richmond; four grandchildren, Mahlon (Mayo) Dickerson, Alisa (Lonnie)Boykin, Rita Wagner, and Greta (Johnny) Stevens; seventeen great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
