Mrs. Mabel Jenkins Rogers
February 15, 1911 - June 18, 2016
Mrs. Mabel Jenkins Rogers departed this earth on June 18, 2016 to join her Heavenly Father. She was born on February 15, 1911 in Columbia, South Carolina to the late Matilda and Robert Jenkins. She attended Richland County public schools and later gained employment to help provide for her family. She retired from the State Hospital where she served loyally for 20 years. On January 3, 1944, she married the love of her life, the late Deacon Willie Rogers, Sr. They married for 36 years until his untimely death in 1980. They lovingly raised three daughters, Dorothy, Harriette, and Vennawea, and a son, Willie, Jr. Mrs. Rogers was a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church for 80 years where she served in the capacities of Missionary, member of the Messenger's Choir, Deaconess, and Mother of the Church. She was often recognized and honored for her service to her church and to her community. Surviving are three daughters: Dorothy Lorraine Hoefer, Harriette Jacqueline Brown, and Vennawae Qualls; six grandchildren; Robin (Dr. Charles B.) Jackson, Sr., Elizabeth Denise Matt, Robert (Megan) Hoefer, Michael Qualls II, Morgan Qualls, and India Rose Qualls; nine great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
