He departed this earthly life on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at his residence in Columbia, South Carolina. Brody was educated in The Public Schools of Florence County, South Carolina. John loved to watch westerns and play pool. He was a loving and caring man, and especially loved his family. Brody served as a Paratrooper in the United States Army from 1972-1976. He was formerly employed at Harry C. Walterhaufer Company of Baltimore, MD and at the Icoboni Construction Company of Baltimore. He was preceded in death by his parents Ulysses McCray & Minnie Mae McCray-Nero, and a brother, L. Jennis Nero He leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Violetta McCray of the home; three children, Lamont Herring, Teresa Major, of Olanta, SC, and Ira McCray of Baltimore, MD; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
