Evelyn B. Singletary

June 20, 1924 - December 16, 2012

Memorial services were held for Ms. Singletary 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2012 at A. A. Dicks Funeral Home Sullivan Chapel. Ms. Evelyn Burgess Singletary affectionately known as "Aunt Nina" was born on June 20, 1924 in Manning, SC to the late Ephraim and Lou Preston Felder. She departed this earthly life Sunday, December 16, 2012 in Columbia, SC. She was the widow of the late Frank Singletary and the mother of Solomon Burgess, Jr. While in Lake City, SC, she was a member of Mount Clair Missionary Baptist Church and volunteered at Ronald E. McNair Memorial Nursing Center. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star. Aunt Nina's life was about caring, showing love and compassion to others. She loved to cook and spend time teaching Sunday School. Ms. Singletary enjoyed reading her Bible and trying to live a good "Christian Life". She was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters. Left to cherish fond memories are: one sister, Susan Wilson; two granddaughters, Angie (Gerrod) E. Keith and Valerie (Michael) Wilson; five great grandchildren, Da'Von and Celina Keith, Tyre', Candace and Dorian Wilson; daughter-in-law, Marcelina Burgess Stukes; nieces and nephews, of Florence and Clarendon Counties and a host of other relatives and friends.
