Public Viewing for Mrs. Cancerleen Rosenia Clark Haynes will be Monday, April 20, 2020 from Noon till 5:00 P.M. at A. A. Dicks Funeral Home Sullivan Chapel, located 2548 Main Street, Columbia, SC 29201. Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at The Promised Land Cemetery, located 1740 Cushman Drive, Columbia, SC 29204. Interment will follow in The Promised Land Cemetery. Mrs. Cancerleen Rosenia Clark Haynes, was born on July 1, 1925 in the Piney Grove Community to the late Samuel Walter Suber and Celestine Clark Griffin. She entered into rest on April 15, 2020 at Prisma Health Richland Hospital Mrs. Haynes joined the Piney Grove AME Church at an early age. She married the late Willie Lewis Haynes and had two children, Rev. Eldred Lewis Haynes and Minister Cynthia Terri “Lynn” Haynes Morris—both of whom preceded her in death. After marriage, Mrs. Haynes continued her path of Christian service at Gill Creek Baptist Church. At the establishment of Gunter’s Chapel, she was a pioneering member. While at Gunter’s Chapel, she was a faithful member, choir member, missionary, and employee. Mrs. Haynes was educated in Harbison Agricultural and Industrial Institute, of Irmo, SC and she attended Allen University. She worked in the Richland County public school system as a cafeteria cook. She also cooked for several nurseries and daycare centers. Along the way, she began to teach as well. Her gift of service was used at Gunter’s Chapel daycare center, and there she served as a teacher and cook for several years. Mrs. Haynes maintained her faithfulness at church until her health began to decline. Her long-life afforded her to be sassy, brassy, and yet classy. Mrs. Haynes enjoyed sewing, cooking, word puzzles, having fun, going to church events., and watching the news. A few of her favorite TV shows were: Wheel of Fortune, The Price is Right, Family Feud, and The Big Bang Theory. Her love for people was evident, as she was a surrogate to many and sister to others. She was preceded in death by her children and a sister, Francina Dorothy Moore. Mrs. Haynes leaves to cherish her memories: a sister, Ella Ruth (Brad) Wise; a daughter-in-law, Doris Haynes; grandchildren, Trongeleen Haynes, Carlos Haynes, Dywonne Haynes, Natasja (Keith) Simon, Takquana Haynes, great-grandchildren, Tarshiba Haynes, Alexis Quaynor, Sequioa Kessler, Diquisha Haynes, Randy Kessler, Jr., Tyler Johnson, and Ava Simon; great great-grandchildren, Marleyah Moore and Ciani Farmer; god-child, Metheria (Ben) Livingston and special friend, Mrs. Helen Brooks; and a host of aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many caring friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
