Memorial services for Mrs. Bettie Briggman of Columbia, SC will be held on Saturday September 27, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. from Zion Chapel Baptist Church No. 1, 130 Walters Hills Road, Columbia, SC. Mrs. Briggman has entered into rest on Monday September 22, 2014. A. A. Dicks Funeral Home Sullivan Chapel, 2548 Main Street, Columbia are in charge of these arrangements. She was born May 10, 1939 in Columbia, SC. She was the daughter of the late Jessie Mae Ruff Patterson. Betty attended the public schools of Richland County and was a graduate of C. A. Johnson High School Class of 1957. Mrs. Briggman worked at Crafts Farrow Hospital and the private duty sector as a nurse for many years. She joined Zion Chapel Baptist Church #1 where she served over forty years as a active servant. Betty Briggman was preceded in death by her mother; sister, Rosa Lee Patterson Ruff and nephew, Wilbert R. Patterson Shaw. Left to cherish precious memories are her husband of forty-five years, Calvin C. Briggman, Sr,; daughters, LaVonda (Robert) B. Johnson, Linda B. Suber of Columbia, SC, Beverly and Sharon Briggman of Atlanta, GA; son, Calvin C. Briggman, Jr. also of Columbia, SC; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sister, Kay F. Patterson; brothers, Jacob (Mary), Larry and James Patterson; five sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, god children, several spiritually adopted children, other relatives and friends.
