Mr. William Eugene Klines

William Eugene Klines, affectionately known as "Will" or Uncle Willy", graced this world on January 11, 1968 in Manhattan, New York to his loving parents, Ollie Ann Green and Eugene William Klines. After a extended illness, William transitioned into the arms of God on Friday, March 17, 2023, in his home. William began his early education in the public schools of New York City until his family relocated to South Carolina. With all ambition, Will excelled in everything that he set out to do. Will was a family - oriented person. Everything he did was to enrich his family. His love for his family was remarkably shown and admired. Being the protector of those he encountered and cared for was amplified through his actions towards his mother. Often time he would state, "hey that's my momma, watch it now". To know him was to love him. William loved to cook and have fun. A master of excellence on the grill. Will loved to "fire up the grill" and cook. Will often said "I cook, because i like to eat". Teaching that cooking was the practice or skill of preparing food by combining, mixing, and heating ingredients put a smile on many faces. Cooking is one of the things that made him happy because it brought everyone together in a way like no other; especially if there were cards to play spades and music to dance. Will always boasted his winning streak until he lost. Growing up in a faith-based home, William experienced the true power of the Lord. Reaffirming his faith, Will became a member of Friendship Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor A. A. Dicks, Sr.. During his Christian pilgrimage at Friendship, Will served until his health started to decline. Being a dedicated servant of God, William continued to press through sickness to serve. At Friendship, he was promoted to trustee. When he became a trustee, Will was so happy because it gave him a place to do something good and work. William knew that it was his faith that was keeping him and carrying him through. Beating cancer two times, Will knew that there was a God. Yes, it was difficult but when asked, "how are you doing"? He would often reply, "man, I'm living, so I'm good." He was a fighter even in pain. Will understood that good Christians may not set well with the idea of a good fight, however, anything worthwhile, anything good and true, whether for yourself or for the greater good around you, is going to involve a slugfest of sorts. Will, gifted and talented, brought laughter and joy to all he interacted with. Loving to tell jokes, no matter the situation, he found humor and made everyone smile and loving life. William was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Nygia Klines; his father as well as both maternal and paternal grandparents. Will leaves to mourn his passing: his mother, Ollie Ann Greene Klines-Kizer of Columbia, South Carolina; four siblings, Karen Klines of Bronx, New York, Latoya LeGare, Letita Klines, and Kaymond Kizer of Columbia, South Carolina; one nephew, Isaiah Jacobs of Columbia, South Carolina; a aunt, Ida Thomas of Manhattan, New York; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Friendship Baptist Church, 1237 House Street, Columbia, South Carolina 29204. Pastor A. A. Dicks, Sr. officiating. Interment to follow in the Promised Land Cemetery. Public viewing will be held from 12 noon until 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 24, 2023 and 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 25, 2023 at A. A.
