Ret. SFC Wesley Bethany Sr.

Retired SFC Wesley Bethany, Sr. the son of the late, Alexander Bethany and Tecora G. Bethany was born on January 19, 1948 in Hayti, Missouri. In 1965, he met the love of his life, Dolly Mae Bethany in New Egypt, New Jersey. From this marriage, they were blessed to have two sons, Wesley Bethany, Jr. and Marcel Alexander Bethany. In 1976, he was drafted into the, United States Army. His MOS, Food Service Specialist Stock Control Specialist and Club Manager. Retired SFC Wesley Bethany served the United State Army as a faithful solider. During his tenure in the military, he earned several awards, “Good Conduct Medal Bronze Clasp W/4 Loops”, “National Defense Service Medal”, “Vietnam Service Medal”, “Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal”, “Army Service Ribbon”, “Expert Qualification Badge (Rifle M-16)”, and “Overseas Service Ribbon.” After he retired from the military, he held several jobs. He worked as a Security Guard in Moorestown, New Jersey. He retired as a Supervisor from Albert C. Wagner. Retired SFC Wesley Bethany was very active in his community. He was a member of the Commander of the Veterans of Foreign (VFW), Disable American Veterans (DAV), and Trench Rats. Retired SFC Wesley Bethany fellowshipped at Heaven’s Gateway Temple of God where his wife was the pastor. In 2019, Retired SFC Wesley Bethany accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. He was a mild manner and respectable person who was loved by many. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 53 years, Overseer/Pastor D. M. Bethany; 2 sons, Wesley, Jr. and Marcel A. Bethany; 6 grandchildren, Shaquasia (Lavaughn) Watson, Tatiana, Wesley, III, Jonathan, Analisa and Nadia Bethany; 7 Great-grandchildren; six siblings, Ida Bethany, George W. (Mildred) Bethany, Wanda (Roy) Williams, Linda Bethany, Patricia Bethan-Strotter and Eddie Bethany; a Sister-in-law, Opal Parham; 2 Brother-in-laws, Adjuster (Ruby) Sims, and Frank (Vivian) Sims; Special neighbors, Bryan and Dorothy Amsden; a special son, Leonard Aston and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. The Bethany family acknowledges with grateful appreciation, all of your kind expressions of love and sympathy. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 27, 2023 at A. A. Dicks Funeral Home Sullivan Chapel, 6400 North Main Street, Columbia, South Carolina 29203. Overseer/Pastor D. M. Bethany, officiating. Interment to follow in the Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Public viewing will be from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Thursday, January 26, 2023 and from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 27, 2023 at A. A. Dicks Funeral Home.
