Mrs. Tonya Brown Evans

Mrs. Tonya Brown Evans was born November 4, 1976. She was the beloved daughters of the late Johnnie Brown, Jr. and Christian Brown. She departed this life to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at High Point Medical Center in High Point, North Carolina. Tonya attended Richland County public schools and graduated from Dreher High School Class of 1996. She received as Associate's Degree in Business Administration from South University and was also a Board Certified Licensed Cosmetologist. Tonya was brought up to know and love God by her amazing Grandparents, Johnnie Brown, Sr. and Lillie Mary Brown, who both proceeded her in death. She grew up in Friendship Baptist Church where she became a faithful member at a very young age and well into adulthood. Tonya married Aaron Evans in 2005 and they moved to High Point, North Carolina, where they became active members of Greater Saint Matthew's Fellowship Ministries. Her ministries were singing on the choir and working with the children, among others. Tonya was a loving and devoted Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, and Friend. Though physically she is no longer with us, her loving and kind spirit will forever be a part of the hearts and lives of all those who knew and loved her. So many loving and wonderful memories of Tonya are left to her loving husband, Aaron Evans; a loving son, Johnathan Evans; a loving daughter, London Evans; her mother, Christian Brown; a very special aunt, Sadie Johnson; two brothers, Johnnie Brown, III, Wesley (Bonita) Brown; one sister, Courtney (Andre) Singleton; mother-in-law, Carolyn Evans; brother-in-law, Andric (Teesha) Evans; multiple aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews; Tonya was extremely close to her family, especially her first cousins who were more like siblings, and a host of other loving relatives and friends whom will miss her dearly. The Evans family acknowledges with grateful appreciation, all of your kind expressions of love and sympathy. Celebration of life service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Friendship Baptist Church, 1237 House Street, Columbia, South Carolina 29204. Pastor A. A. Dicks, Sr., Pastor, officiating. Interment to follow in The Promised Land Cemetery. Public viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 25, 2022 and 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 26, 2022 at A. A. Dicks Funeral Home Sullivan Chapel.
