Mrs. Peggy Barnett Daniel

Mrs. Peggy Barnett Daniel entered into rest on Saturday March 15, 2014 at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 22, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. from Friendship Baptist Church, 1237 House Street, Columbia, SC. Interment to follow in Palmetto Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday March 21, 2014 from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. She was born May 2, 1936 in Columbia, SC to the late Deacon Jesse and Corine Murray Barnett. Peggy was the first child born in the Friendship Baptist Church family where she was reared Spiritually with her parents. At an age of accountability, she decided to confess and accept Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She remained at Friendship until her health declined. There, she served on the Jubilee Choir, Senior Christian Ministry, Senior Missionary Society and W.I.S.E. Ministries. Peggy was educated in the public schools of Richland County SC and graduated with the 1957 class of C. A. Johnson High School. There, she was a majorette and served on various committees. Intitially she was employed with Midlands Center's Foster Grandparents Program as a transporter but because of her strong work ethic, when the grant for the program ended, the Center transferred and promoted her to nursing assistant in the infirmatry from which she retired. Mrs. Daniel was a Urban League Advocate and part of the Lyons Street Neighborhood Association. Peggy was affecionately known as "Grandma" in the community. Mrs. Daniel was united in Holy matrimony to the late Paul Daniel in September 10, 1956. To this union of love, they were blessed with five children, On October 17, 2001, they renewed their vows. She was preceded in death by her parents, all siblings, her husband, three children, Paul Earl, Garnett and Velveeta Elanie Daniel and a great granddaughter Tanesia Veal. Left with precious memories are her sons, Bruce W. (Beverly) and Keith Daniel; adopted daughter Cathy Murphy; sons-in-law, Guy Johnson and Eric Bouttrys; daughters-in-law, Lisa Suber and Tara Wingard; niece (like a sister) Mrs. Sandra Frazier; sisters-in-law, Lillie Davis, Maurice and Lucille Daniel; grandchildren, V. Monique (Chris) Jeffcoat), Montinne Calvan Robinson, LaToya Patrice, Guyla Johnson, Tiana Brown, Torrence, Bruce and Garnett Daniel, Jr., Liann Geiger and Charnae' Wingard; great grandchildren, Kobe and Christopher Jeffcoat II, Kymari Watkins, E'lana Johnson, E'lon Foxworth, Allisa Rose and Hase W. Daniel, Rhani Williams; god children, Taylor Neal, Robert Norner and Tim McDuffie and a host of Murray, Barnett and Daniel nieces, nephews, cousins, god children, extended family, community and church friends who will dearly miss her.
