Mr. Palmer Leroy Scott "Scotty P"

Mr. Palmer Leroy Scott, 69, of Columbia, South Carolina entered into eternal rest on Monday December, 9, 2024. He was born in Richland County to the late Howard and Rosa Marie Scott on July 22nd, 1955. He was the fifth of nine siblings. Palmer, also affectionately known as "Scotty P"., grew up in Columbia, South Carolina, and attended Richland County Public Schools. Palmer graduated from Dreher High School, Class of 1973. He attended Midland Technical College in the pursuit of a degree in architectural engineering. Palmer developed mastery skills in building and constructing with his hands, and I mean the man had mad skills! As his sister, I have seen his works, and in many instances he has almost single handedly built rooms to structures, such as bedrooms, bathrooms, waiting rooms, offices and so much more. It is evident that Palmer had a passion for his craft in building structures. It was his life’s work. I would not be surprised if, in many places around South Carolina and beyond, there is a handprint of construction or design left by Palmer Scott, a.k.a. Scotty P. Growing up with Palmer was a delight. He was a person with a jovial sense of humor. He was full of pranks and gestures to make you laugh and keep you amused. If ever you were irritated by something Palmer said or did, then he was amused. "Scotty P",. loved to dress to impress when going out to have a good time. He would be the center of attention on a dance floor in the way that he moved, snapped his fingers and took a sudden flip across the dance floor without any warning (cracked everybody up). He was a avid bowler. Our beloved Palmer was smart, talented, hard-working, funny and kind. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Palmer was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Rosa Marie Scott; brothers, Thomas Wayne Scott, and Reginald Scott, sister, Hazel Scott-Rose. Palmer leaves to cherish his memories: sons, Antonio Javon Scott, Palmer L. Scott, II; a brother, Howard Scott, Jr.; sisters, Jacqueline Scott, Wendy (Stanley) Scott-Lewis, Irish Jackson, and Rosahal Scott; aunt, Geneva Weaver, and a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins and friends. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at Friendship Baptist Church, 1237 House Street, Columbia, South Carolina 29204. Pastor A. A. Dicks, Sr., officiating. Interment to follow in the Promised Land Cemetery. Mr. Scott will lie in-state at the church one hour prior to the service time. Public viewing will be held from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, Decmeber 17, 2024 and from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at A. A. Dicks Funeral Home.
