Mrs. Nellie Rae Yarborough

Mrs. Nellie Rae Yarborough, 91, of Columbia, South Carolina entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at the home of her daughter, Jennifer Audrey (Deacon James) Rhett. Nellie was the fourth of six siblings born to the late Mamie Collin and Eugene Williams. Nellie was the last surviving child of her parent's children. She was married to the late Ravenel Yarborough. Nellie attended the public schools of Fairfield County, SC and Camp Liberty School. Nellie graduated from McCrorey-Liston High School of Technology. Nellie worked as a young adult for several years at Allen University. Later, she became gainfully employed at The University of South Carolina in the Evironmental Services Department until she retired. Nellie affectionately called "Grand mama or Nellie Bell, accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour at an early age and was baptized at Greater Saint Luke Baptist Church. She loved traveling, spending time with family and friends and spoiling all of her grandchildren. She was the life of any family gatherings and her family cherishes the memories of her dancing and laughing with joy. She was an amazing cook, and her family was always eager to enjoy anything she prepared, especially her homemade biscuits and fried chicken. Nellie was the epitome of a Matriarch. Loving and full of life. Always lending a helping hand. Nellie was preceded in death by her husband: her parents; her sisters, Clotell Johnson and Margret Legion and her brothers, Jack, Freddie and Theodore Collins. Nellie leaves her legacy of memories to her six children, Raplh L. Yarborough, Anginett Yarborough, Jennifer (Audrey) (Deacon James) Rhett, Deborah Owner, Petra (Leroy) Sumpter and Gregory (Wilhelmenia) Crambin all of Columbia, SC; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral service will be 12 noon, Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at Greater Saint Luke Baptist Church, 5228 Farrow Road, Columbia, South Carolina 29203. Pastor Michael H. Baker, officiating. Interment to follow in the Promised Land Cemetery. Mrs. Yarborough will lie in-state at the church one hour prior to the service time. Public viewing will be held from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m., Monday, June 24, 2024 and from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at A. A. Dicks Funeral Home. Like our Facebook page: A. A.
