Beloved Madeline Renee Brown was born October 17, 1961 in Washington, DC but was reared in Columbia, SC. She peacefully departed this life December 17, 2021 in her home surrounded by all who genuinely loved her. Madeline attended the public schools in Richland County District One and graduated with the Class of 1980 from Eau Claire High School. She worked at the Health Department in Columbia, South Carolina, the Chicken Farm and various food service establishments throughout her life. "Penny", as she was affectionately known, was the life of the party. She was always smiling, but she didn't play about her family; especially her siblings, nieces, nephews and of course her daughter and beautiful grandbabies. You either liked her or loved her. Penny dedicated her life to serving her family and the community with food from the soul and was an excellent cook. You can taste the love and compassion in every bite. She would come up with a recipe in a minute but, only shared her secret recipes with a select few who know who you are. Madeline was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth B. Stroman; father, Wilbert Goodwin; sister, Sandra Brown Miller and maternal grandparents, Furman and Leola Harris Brown. Left to cherish precious memories are: a daughter, Victoria (Lance) Brown; two granddaughters, Ja'Leeah and Jay'Lah; life long partner, Ansel (Wiggy) Jones all of Columbia, SC; sisters, Geraldine Tompkins of Johnson, TN, Diane Wright, Norma Jean Brown Hinnant, Lyn Joyce Stroman Brown; brothers, Eric and Kenneth Earl Brown; aunts, Viola Brown and Henrietta Graves; her favorite uncle, Jerry Brown all of Columbia, SC; two special brothers, Rodney Brown of Washington, DC and Jeffrey Brown of Greenville, SC; ten nieces, ten nephews and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousin, other loving family and friends. Please leave the Brown family your condolences and prayers. The Brown family, acknowledges with grateful appreciation, all of your kind expressions of love and sympathy.
