Mr. Larry Donnell Harp

Mr. Larry Donnell Harp, was born on September 25, 1961 in Columbia, South Carolina. He was the son of Bernetha Clark Harp Richardson and the late Nathaniel Harp. A Time to Transition Larry Donnell transitioned this earthly life Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at Prisma Health Richland. He was proceeded in death by his father; sister, Linda Kaye Harp Ladia; grandparents, Willie and Laura Dominick Clark and Willie and Viola Harp and sixteen aunts and uncles. A Time to Live and Serve As a child, Larry was a Boy Scout and a tap dancer for special occasions. He graduated from W. J. Keenan High School with Honors. He played trumpet in the Honors Marching Band. He played football for the Greenview Park Eagles. Larry was a member of Greenview First Baptist Church and later joined Bethlehem Baptist Church on Eastman Street in Columbia, South Carolina. He sang with the original C.A. Faulk Singers. He enjoyed watching sports. His favorite teams were the Dallas Cowboys and Greenbay Packers. A Time to Love and Serve As a 7th grader, Larry tested on a first year college level in the area of mathematics. As a result of his advanced knowledge in math, he tutored college students. Larry attended the University of South Carolina and served in the United States Navy, and later was honorably discharged. During this time, his acumens and intellect tested in the highest percentile, near genius. After six terms, Larry was employed by Mackie Heating and Air Conditioning Company, Shakespeare Rod and Reel Company and the The City of Columbia Wastewater Treatment Plant. He was the Lead Operations Specialist. In July 2017, Larry retired. A Time to Leave Larry loved his family with sincere compassion. He loved and admired his niece and nephew, Jocelyn and Rashad. He was amazed and thrilled by his great niece and nephew and challenged them in math and Spanish. They had fun making paper airplanes and playing together. A Time for Precious Memories Larry was formerly married to Vickie Coker. He leaves to cherish precious memories: his mother, Bernetha Clark Harp Richardson; niece Jocelyn Arlinda Ladia Bell; nephew, Arthur Rashad Ladia; great niece, Nevaeh Natalie Bell; great nephew, Rashad Nachim Kershaw; Donna Jones, who is like a sister; aunts, Carrie Harp and Alberta Harp; uncle, Johnny (Bennie Ruth) Harp; a host of other loving relatives and friends. The Harp family acknowledges with grateful appreciation, all of your kind expressions of love and sympathy. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 26, 2022 at the Wiley Kennedy Family Life Center (Bethlehem Baptist Church College Place), 1028 Eastman Street, Columbia, South Carolina 29203, Reverend Dr. Anthony A. McCallum, Pastor, officiating. Interment to follow in The Promised Land Cemetery. Public viewing will be from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m., Friday, March 25, 2022 at A. A.
