In our living we all have a ministry. You may not stand in a pulpit nor wear a robe, but we have a purpose within us that is a gift from God. Jovon “Von” Johnson, was born in Columbia, SC, on December 10, 1975 to Marilyn Golston and the late, Nathan Vandyke Johnson. On March 5, 2021, after a brief illness, Jovon L. Johnson packed up his earthly bags and moved to 100 God’s Will Avenue. Oh how sweet to reside where Jesus is. At an early age he moved to New York City, where he enjoyed many years of being a New Yorker. He was employed as a professional mover and talked vividly of his experience of being a top notch moving expert. Throughout his travels, between New York and Columbia, he finally settled as a resident in Columbia, SC. He worked various jobs. Von’s love for people always led him to helping those around him. He loved his family and enjoyed times with his uncles, aunts and cousins. Jovon was preceded in death by his father, Nathan and his maternal and paternal grandparents. Left to cherish his memories are: his mother, Marilyn Golston of Columbia, SC; his children, Voniaja Nuri, Niahemah Nuri, Jonvon Smith, all of New York City, Tealrosa Smith, of Columbia, SC and Jaivion Trevon Chestnut, of Myrtle Beach, SC; his siblings; Kimbi Golston, Anthonio “Nino” Golston, Safwand Johnson, and Sevastian “Davy” Golston, all of Columbia, SC; two grandchildren, Kayden and K’ylinn, of Columbia, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, Aunts, Uncles, and cousins.
