Mr. Joseph "Joe" Victor Cooper

Mr. Joseph Victor Cooper, 88, of Georgetown, South Carolina entered into eternal rest on December 15, 2025 Prisma Health Richland Hospital. On April 9, 1937, in Georgetown County, South Carolina, to the late Nathaniel Heyward Keith and Albertha Cooper. His early years and education took place in several communities, each helping to shape his character, values, and work ethic. As a young man, Joseph met and married Mary Stafford of Georgetown, South Carolina. From this union, they were blessed with one son, Joseph Cooper Jr. Mary proceeded him in death, In 1954, Joseph joined the New York National Guard and was later placed on active duty with the United States Army. He served honorably and received an honorable discharge in 1957. Joseph spent many years living in Brooklyn, New York, before returning to South Carolina in 2006. Throughout his life, he was a hardworking and determined entrepreneur. He owned and operated several successful businesses, including real estate ventures, trucking companies, and other enterprises, leaving behind a legacy of independence and perseverance. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Nathaniel Keith and Albertha Cooper; his wife, Mary Cooper; three siblings; his daughter, Benda Cooper. He leaves to cherish his loving memory his son, Joseph Cooper Jr. of Greenville, SC; daughter, Jennifer Cooper of Florence, SC; his sisters, Geraldine G. Keith of Columbia, SC, Kimberly A. Keith of Alexandria, VA, and Mary Jones of Lake City, SC; his brother, Heyward O Keith (Keren) of Georgetown SC; his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Funeral service will be 12 noon, Wednesday, December 24, 2025 at A. A. Dicks Funeral Home, 6400 North Main Street, Columbia, South Carolina 29203. Interment to follow in the Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Reverend Jeffrey Graham, officiating. Public viewing will be held from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 23, 2025 and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service, Wednesday, December 24, 2025 at A. A. Dicks Funeral Home.
