Mr. Jerry Lemar Gadson "Mark"

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditates day and night. Psalm 1:1-2 Jerry Lemar Gadson was born October 26, 1970, in Columbia, South Carolina at Richland Memorial Hospital. He was the beloved son of the late James Lee Gadson and Sophia Hudson Gadson. His earthly journey ended November 16, 2023, at MUSC Providence Northeast Hospital. During his early childhood he was a basketball and football player. He graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1988. He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboy fan, but he bled the Carolina Gamecocks. He was a skilled certified forklift operator with 20 years of experience. He was employed with Thomas & Howard and Lances and Session Warehouse in Blythewood, South Carolina. Meeting his wife, Minister Sheila Ann Lawton Gadson, they soon began a loving marriage which spanned 27 years of utter and complete devotion. To this union was born his two children, Jerry II, and Sherria. He joined Oak Grove Baptist Church at a young age and serve on the youth choir and the usher ministry. He was a helpful, very family orientated person and he was heavily involved in his community. He was a part of the P-Town Boyz and better known as Gat-Dog. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, and two brothers, James Jr., and Randall Gadson; father-in-law, John H. Lawton. Mr. Jerry Lemar Gadson leaves to mourn his passing loving and devoted wife, Minster Sheila A. Gadson; one son, Jerry L. Gadson II; two daughters, Sherria Gadson and Kortnei Johnson; three grandchildren, Peyton Johnson, Milan Johnson, and Hunter Johnson; one godson, Dwayne Bannister Jr; one goddaughter, Jacquanna Carson; mother-in-law, Willa M. Lawton; five sisters-in-law, Janet C. Jones, Jacqueline Carson, Maxcine (Dwayne) Bannister, Joan (Raheem) Moyd, Christina (Julian) Chance all in Columbia, South Carolina; two uncles, Robert (Mary) Hudson Elgin, SC, and John (Mary) McLemore Hopkins, South Carolina; eight aunts, Mattie Coles of Hopkins, South Carolina, Geneva (Carl) Dean, Della Hudson, Reverend Sara Martin of Columbia, South Carolina; Della Catchings of Chicago, Illinois, Mary (Walter) Sims, Rosa Sumter, Lottie (Ronald) Wesley of Hopkins, South Carolina; two great-aunts, Mae (Frank) Taylor, Cheryl Singletary of Eastover, South Carolina; special cousins, Aaron Lyles and Brian Hudson and a host of nieces and nephews; cousin and friends. Although our hearts are broken without him, God had a better place in mind and welcomed him home to Glory. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 1063 Old Two Notch Road, Elgin, South Carolina 29045. The Reverend Dr. Willie J. Thompson, Jr., Pastor, officiating. Mr. Gadson will lie in-state at the church one hour prior to the service time.
