Irvin was born on November 25,1956, in Columbia, South Carolina to Clarence and Ellanora K Bowman. He was preceded in death by his brother, Willie Ronald Bowman. Irvin, a man of faith, loved his family and friends. He was educated in the public school system of Richland County District One, Columbia. He later earned his High School Equivalency Diploma from Wil Lou Gray Opportunity School, West Columbia, demonstrating his commitment to continuing his education. Irvin was a licensed contractor. During his life, Irvin enriched the lives of others through his generous and fun-loving ways. He was an avid fisherman, particularly deep-sea fishing. He enjoyed nature, and anything outdoors, especially landscaping and yard work. He was a world class traveler and had recently vacationed with his siblings in Tokyo, Japan. Some of his favorite vacation destinations were Germany, Hawaii, Alaska and the Caribbean Islands. He often sought refuge at the beach, and would go as often as possible, for relaxation. At an early age, Irvin joined Reid Chapel AME Church, Columbia where he developed a strong foundation of faith. When he returned home after his retirement from American Airlines, Irvin became an active attendee of Greenview Baptist Church. He was a member of the Greenview Reunion Foundation, where he served as the Organization’s Vice-President until his death. In 1977, Irvin moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he was employed by Bonitz Construction Company for ten years. In 1987, Irvin began working at American Airlines, where he was employed as a Baggage Handler until his retirement in October 2022. After his retirement, Irvin relocated back home to Columbia, and partnered with his family’s business, ABC Estates, LLC. Additionally, he was the sole proprietor of ABC Enterprises. He was a certified CDL driver. Irvin was a servant who was always helping someone else with a genuine kind spirit. He loved to collect and refurbish items by transforming another man’s junk into someone else’s treasure and would give them to anyone who needed them. He was affectionately, known as “Fred Sanford” by his family. Irvin leaves to celebrate his life, mourn his loss, and cherish his memory: loving parents, Clarence and Ellanora K Bowman, of Columbia, SC; his devoted special friend, Gale Morring of Virginia Beach, VA; a loyal brother, Lanier (Maxcine) Bowman of Columbia, SC; and two faithful sisters Carolyn (Arnold) Benson and Shiral Bowman Moss, of Columbia, SC; two nephews, Wilson Kedwrick Miles, II of Atlanta, GA and Bryon Miles of Columbia, SC; one great-nephew, Bryon Miles, Jr. of New Providence, PA.; one aunt, Geraldine K. Jackson of Irmo, SC and a host of cousins and other loving relatives and friends who will miss his daily presence in their lives. Funeral service will be 12 noon, Thursday, June 25, 2026 at Greenview First Baptist Church, 101 Isaac Street, Columbia, South Carolina 29203. Interment to follow in the Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. The Reverend Dr. Johnny C. Owens, Pastor & officiant. Mr. Bowman will lie in-state at the church one hour prior to the service time. Public viewing will be held from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 24, 2026 and from 9:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m, Thursday, June 25, 2026 at A. A. Dicks Funeral Home. Like our Facebook page: A.
