Mrs. Hattie K. Williams, 97, formerly of Pageland, South Carolina has entered into eternal rest on March 27, 2026, surrounded by family. She was affectionately known as "Hattie B". She was born in Raleigh, North Carolina to Columbus and Ava Kelly. She was a woman of unwavering strength, grace and generosity. A dedicated employee at Petersburg Primary School and loving homemaker who spent her life caring for others - both in her work and most importantly, within her home. She created a space filled with warmth, laughter, and the comforting aroma of her lovingly prepared dishes, fondly remembered by all who were blessed to enjoy them. Though she herself was deprived of higher education, she instilled in her children the value of learning and ensured that each of them had the opportunity to attend college - one of her proudest accomplishments. Hattie B, found joy in life's simple and meaningful pleasures. She loved traveling, especially cruising, dining out at different restaurants, and above all spending time with family and friends. Hattie B's heart was full when surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable happiness. She was a woman of unwavering faith, strength and grace. From an early age, her life was shaped by loss and resilience. At just five years old, she experienced the passing of her beloved mother who was only 29 years old and later endured the loss of her brother at a young age. Through it all, God carried her through the years, guiding her an strengthening her steps. Hattie's faith was the foundation of her life. It was not loud, but it was unwavering. She did not need a title to live what she believed. Her beliefs showed most clearly in the way she loved, disciplined, and guided her family. Her commitment to God was evident in all she did. Known for her selflessness, she was the kind of person that would literally give you "the shirt off her back" without hesitation. Her kindness, generosity, and nurturing spirit touched countless lives and will continue to inspire all who knew her. In addition to her parents, Hattie B was preceded in death by her brother James Kelly. Hattie B was united in holy matrimony to Leroy Williams, Sr., who preceded her death. This union was blessed with five children. She leaves to cherish her precious memories two sons: Leroy (Rosa) Williams, Jr. of Rock Hill, SC and Curtis (Lena) Williams of Pageland, SC; three daughters: Elizabeth (Robert/Fiancée) Williams, and Janice Williams of Columbia, SC, and Pearlina (Carl) Williams-Burke of Irmo, SC; a loving sister, Catherine Huntley of Pageland, SC, four beloved grandchildren; Clarence (Karen) Williams of Hiram, GA, Daryl (Earleane) Williams of Clover, SC, Laurinda (Mark) Williams Petersen of Wake Forest, NC and Ringo Williams of Oahu, HI; nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; one sister-in-law, Mary McLaughlin of Glenarden, MD, one brother-in-law, Henry Edgeworth of Pageland, SC and a host of cousins and beloved friends. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 28690 Highway 9, Pageland, South Carolina 29728. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. Reverend Dr. Lawrence Brand, Pastor, officiant. Mrs. Williams will lie in-state at the church one hour prior to the service time.
