Ms. Girline Wilson Branch

Girline Wilson Branch, daughter of the late Chamberlain Wilson and Pauline Davis Scott, was born October 9, 1934 in Eastover, South Carolina. On Sunday, November 19, 2023 she answered the call to eternal rest at home. She was educated in the public schools of Richland County and graduated from Webber High School, Class of 1954. She also attended Mansfield Business School and Allen University. At an early age, she became a licensed cosmetologist. She first did hair in New York City. She also worked at Angeline’s Beauty Salon in Columbia, South Carolina for many years. She retired from Moncrief Army Hospital as a nutrition specialist. At an early age she accepted Christ and was baptized at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where she sang on the choir. She was also a member of the Connie Johnson Missionary Circle. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with family. Girline Wilson Branch was preceded in death by: her husband, Eddie Branch; her son, Chamberlain Branch; two brothers, Theodore Scott and Cleveland Wilson, Sr.; five sisters, Carrie Bell Wilson Sims, Lucille Scott Wilson, Elizabeth Scott Wilson, Katie Scott Sinkler, Dorothy Scott Weston, and Verdell Wilson Daniels; and one granddaughter, Fernell Marcaeau. Girline Wilson Branch leaves to cherish her precious memory: one son, Charles Delaney Junior, of Great Falls, Montana; four daughters, Cantrell (Heyward) Blakely, Aletta (Kevin) McClendon, Alethea (Willie) Chestnut, and Amanda Branch, all of Columbia, South Carolina; ten grandchildren, Tyhesha Delaney, Mylishia Blakely, Mya Blakely, Heyward Blakely Jr., Chyann Branch, Chamberlain Branch II, Chaniya Branch, Emmanuel Chestnut, Dawn Falcon, and Lyle Aimsback; one great grandchild, D’ Angelo Martin; three brothers-in-law, Cyrus Weston and Lawrence Sinkler, both of Eastover, South Carolina and Jessie Branch of Fairfield, CA; one sister-in-law, Claretta Branch of Blythewood, South Carolina and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and caring friends , all who will miss her dearly. Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m., Sunday, November 26, 2023 at Friendship Baptist Church, 1237 House Street, Columbia, South Carolina 29204. Pastor A. A. Dicks, Sr., officiating. Interment to follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Ms. Branch will lie in-state at the church one hour prior to the service time. Public viewing will be held from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m., Saturday, November 25, 2023 and from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m., Sunday, November 26, 2023 at A. A. Dicks Funeral Home Sullivan Chapel.
