Ms. Florence Anitra James Bell "Sis"

Ms. Florence Bell, 75, of Columbia, South Carolina entered into eternal rest on Thursday, July 4, 2024 at Prisma Health Richland Hospital. She was a extraordinary individual who touched the hearts of many with her kind and generous spirit. She was born August 7, 1948 to the late Mr. David James, Jr. and the late Mrs. Alice Adams James-White. She lived her life with purpose and determination, always striving to make a positive impact on the world. Florence was an exceptional student who attended C. A. Johnson High School. She was bright and intelligent who had a passion for learning. Florence was a deeply religious person and was baptized at Second Nazareth Baptist Church. She was a woman of great faith. Her love for God was evident in everything she did. She found great joy in reading the bible and enjoyed traveling and exploring new things with her sisters. Florence was a hard worker and dedicated provider to her family. She took great pride in her work. She was an woman of great integrity and always went above and beyond to provide for her loved ones. She worked at the following insurance companies as a Administrative Assistant: Dun & Bradstreet, Seibels & Bruce Insurance Company and RBMG. Later in life, she became a foster parent through Richland/Lexington Foster Care Services and a caregiver for Solutions at Still Hopes. Florence loved spending time with her family. She was immensely proud of her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; sister, Carolyn J. Lawson; brothers, Mr. David F. James, Jr. and Mr. Robbie Lee White; son, Mr. Richard "Rick" Bell, Jr. Cherishing memories are her children: Tina M. (Dean) McDaniel and Tommie Lee (Tracey) Whetstone, Jr.; foster son, Christopher Barnett; sisters, Dorothy J. Counts, Anne W. Washington, Gwendolyn W. Carter, and Yvette W. Wider; brothers, Johnny C. (Mercy) James, sr. and Benjamin S. (Zelda) White; grandchildren, Erika A. (Manchester) Brooks, Dexter G. (Dominique) McDaniel, La'Toya Armand, Derek G. (Tawana) McDaniel, Shameka Whetstone, Terrell Whetstone, Nyla Bell; ten great-grandchildren along with nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. Funeral service will be 12 noon, Thursday, July 11, 2024 at New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church, 3501 Humphry Drive, Columbia, South Carolina 29223. The Reverend Douglas Hudson, Pastor, The Reverend Lynet Winfrey, officiating. The Bell family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at A. A. Dicks Funeral Home. Public viewing will be held from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 10, 2024 and from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 11, 2024 at A. A. Dicks Funeral Home.
