Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at Friendship Baptist Church, 1237 House Street, Columbia, South Carolina 29204. Interment will follow in Gates of Heaven Cemetery. Public Viewing will be held from 12:00 noon until 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at A. A. Ms. Caroline Brabham Edmunds was the second of seven children born to the late Sam Brabham and Maggie Aice on October 27, 1948. She joined her Heavenly Father on Friday, December 10, 2021 at MUSC (Providence) Downtown. Caroline was educated in the Richland County School System and was a 1966 graduate of C. A. Johnson High School. She furthered her education and obtained various certifications from Midlands Technical College. Caroline met and married John “Billy” Edmunds, Jr. and their friendship continued for many years. Caroline was employed by the South Carolina Department of Mental Health and the University of South Carolina College of Nursing where she retired on January 15, 2011. She was recognized with multiple Service Awards during her tenure. Even after retirement, Caroline returned to work at the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce (SC DEW). Her customer service and administrative skills were unmatched. She assisted an unlimited amount of people, with their return to the work force, with a personality that left a lasting impression. As a member of Friendship Baptist Church, Caroline served on the Trustee’s Ministry, Usher’s Ministry, Facility Rentals & Events Team and previously as a Women’s Day Chairperson. She also served as the Secretary for the Capital City Ushers Union for many years. A lover of plants, Caroline never had a flower that she could not make grow or bring back to life. She always told family to speak to her plants because they need love and communication too. Left to cherish precious memories are: her son, Deron T. Edmunds of Neeses, SC; a daughter, Carla R. Edmunds of Columbia, SC; granddaughter, Taisha I. Edmunds; sister, Brenda B. (Willie) Rush all of Columbia, SC; niece, Lori V. Kelley of Evans, GA; nephews, Ivan Aice of Atlanta, GA, Leroy (Jennifer) Kelley and Eric Aice of Columbia, SC; Great Nieces, DaZah, Courtney, Brooke and Londyn Kelley of Columbia, SC and Imani Kelley of Evans, GA; Great Nephews, D’Vaungh Kelley of Columbia, Jahsie Aice of Atlanta, GA and Keyshawn Kelley of Evans, GA; Special God Children, Brandi Brooks of Swansea, SC, Tequilla Murphy and Tony Bowers of Columbia, SC and a host of family and friends that were blessed to be in her life.
