Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:6-8 A Life Begins Mrs. Betty Prince Claytor was born in Darlington, South Carolina on August 10, 1954, the youngest of eight children to the late Corine Prince. She entered into eternal rest early Saturday morning, November 25, 2023 after a sudden illness. At an early age she attended and joined the Lawson Grove Baptist Church and later in the early 90’s was Licensed as a Minister at the Fort Clark Baptist Church, Elgin, South Carolina. Then in 2021 she joined and faithfully served at the Trinity Baptist Church in Columbia, South Carolina where she served on the Intercessory Prayer Ministry. She was a graduate of Mayo High School Class of 1972 and furthered her education at Florence Darlington Technical College for Business. Betty worked various jobs in her early years of employment, but most of her employment was with Beauty and Barber supply where she was the Co-owner and manager of Southeastern Beauty and Barber and C&B Beauty and Barber Supply for over 16 yrs. She was employed for numerous years with the SC Department of Employment and WorkForce Columbia, South Carolina. Betty was a beautiful person, admired for her sweet, and caring spirit. Her nurturing motherly instinct was apparent to all who knew her. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, family member and friend. She is preceded in death by: her brothers, Levern Prince, Charlie Prince, Clifton Prince, Caesar Prince; and a sister, Corine P. Brockington She will be missed by her family and friends who dearly loved her. Those who shared the joys of life with her and survive to cherish her memories are: her loving husband, Richard Claytor, of Columbia, SC; one daughter, Belinda (David) Sampson, Jr; three sons, Cleveland (Samantha) Mack, lll, Cleshon Mack, and Cameron (Shana) Mack, all of Columbia, SC; two sisters, Azalee (Winston) Harrell of Lamar, SC and Pastor Virginia P. Samuel of Columbia, SC; two special grandchildren, Tieasia L. Mack and Carmen S. Mack of Columbia, SC a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends who regret her passing. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Trinity Baptist Church, 2521 Richland Street, Columbia, South Carolina 29204. The Reverend Dr. Thurmond Bowens, Jr., Pastor, officiating. Interment to follow in the Promised Land Cemetery. Mrs. Claytor will lie in-state at the church one hour prior to the funeral time.
