Mr. Benjamin Virgil Javis, Jr. "Bennie"

Mr. Benjamin Virgil Javis, Jr was born August 18, 1960 to his loving parents, the late Benjamin Virgil Javis, Sr. and the late Cora Lee DuBard, both of Columbia, South Carolina. "Bennie" as he was affectionately known to his family and friends, was born in DC General Hospital in Washington, DC and was the youngest and the only son of five children to carry on the Javis name. "Bennie" transitioned to his heavenly home on Tuesday April 2, 2024 at Prisma Health Richland Hospital. He was educated in the DC and Maryland public school systems and furthered his education by attending Lincoln Technical Institute and achieved the trade of HVAC Technician. He would later become a Third Class Engineer. Bennie held many jobs as and HVAC mechanic in Washington, DC before relocating to South Carolina where he ultimately worked for the City of Columbia as a Boiler Technician. He excelled in this position and was promoted often to more senior technician positions. Bennie "loved" all sports to include drag racing but, his favorite was football. He was a avid Washington Redshins fan. Bennie was a meticulous person who loved order. He modeled after his father who was a Tailor. He always presented himself in a well-groomed and well-dressed manner at all times. He even coordinated his sporty, casual clothes. Bennie loved music, especially instrumental Jazz. His greatest passion was to assist other with household handyman needs, and he enjoyed saving them on the high costs of HVAC system repairs. Bennie loved to smile and rarely met a 'stranger'. His loving parents, third sister, Shirley Javis Solomon, and his nephew, Robbie Javis Young all preceded him in his transition. Bennie is survived by: his sisters, Patricia Murphy of Columbia, SC, Linda Javis (Leit) Jones of Lathrop Village, MI, Joyce N. Javis of Decatur, GA, and Toxi Javis Roane of Clermont, FL; his only surviving aunt, Mazelle Brown also of Columbia, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly. Funeral service will be held 6:00 p.m., Thursday, April 4, 2024 at A. A. Dicks Funeral Home, 6400 North Main Street, Columbia, South Carolina 29203. Pastor A. A. Dicks, Sr., officiating.
