Mrs. Adrain C. Brooks, 71, of Hopkins, South Carolina has entered into eternal rest on Sunday, June 21, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 13, 1955, at Fort Jackson Military Base in Columbia, South Carolina to the late Robert and Julia Rawlinson Samuels. “Chaunie” as she was affectionately known, was the middle child out of five siblings. She was baptized at an early age at First Nazareth Baptist Church in Columbia, South Carolina. Chaunie attended the public schools of Richland County. She graduated with the class of 1974 from A.C. Flora High School where she was one of the first A C. Flora Falconettes. She later completed courses at the University of South Carolina and the University of Maryland maintaining a GPA of 3.4. She had a career that spanned over 26 for the United States Government working as a Protocol Executive Program Analyst Supervisor. Along with her devoted husband of over 50 years, she was able to travel and experience life in several countries around the world. No matter where she lived, she would embrace the culture, from lifelong bonds creating lifelong friendships much like family. Known for creating bonds over food, fellowship and pure kindness. Adrain loved life and enjoyed helping others She was committed to serving her community and church. She is the recipient of the Keeper of the Flame Award 2010, Distinguished Volunteer Award 1999 and Volunteer of Merit Award 1997. As an active member of First Nazareth Baptist Church, in 2019, she received the 50-year Member Award, she served in the culinary ministry, the Youth ministry, DERM and a Women’s Day Committee Member. No matter when asked or if needed she graciously embraced the calling. Adrain was preceded in death by her parents, both paternal and maternal grandparents, sister Gwendolyn Denise Samuels-Williams, Deborah P. Samuels brothers Michael R. Samuels and Roderick Samuels She always put family first and is the proud mother of three children and five grandchildren and one great grandson. Our memories will be of her loving spirit, her genuine concerns for everyone, her family happiness and as a person who did not mind sharing her big heart. She was an amazing daughter, wife, mother, sister, cousin and best friend. Left to cherish her precious memories are her devoted husband of 50 years Clarence Brooks Sr., daughter Erika N. Brooks, sons Kenric T. Brooks (Jessica), Clarence Brooks Jr. granddaughters Cydney Brooks, Averie Brooks, Kingslei Brooks, grandsons Joshua Brooks, Nathaniel Brooks great-grandson Coty Humphries Jr. Brother-in-law Isiah Brooks (Ruby) and a loving host of nieces, nephews and cousins and friends. Funeral service will be 12 noon, Monday, June 29, 2026 at First Nazareth Baptist Church, 2351 Gervais Street, Columbia, South Carolina 29204. Interment to follow in the Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The Reverend Dr. Blakley N. Scott, Pastor & officiant. Mrs. Brooks will lie in-state at the church one hour prior to the service time. Public viewing will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Sunday, June 28, 2026 and from 9:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m., Monday, June 29. 2026 at A. A. Dicks Funeral Home. Like our Facebook page: A. A.
